Mic Comparison - Guitar+Vocal: Peluso-Telefunken-AKG-M-Audio

Description

Another mic comparison. All sources were thru a Great River MP 2nv mic>>>preamp>>>RME Fireface What's important for people to understand is that its not necessarily about what's "best." Its to hear the various qualities of mics so you can make the right decision when you're looking for a certain sound on a source. Special thanks to Johnny Bregar for the shootout. • The Telefunken M16 mkII seems to fit the vocalists character the best. The Peluso is the most hi-fi, but it isn't as pleasant on the voice. The AK47 was also good, followed by the M-Audio. The AKG was EASILY the worst suited for this application.

  • I have to agree 100% with shelterr. Wow what a difference in listening to that voice with the matched up mic as opposed to the ones not suited. For me it made the difference between not wanting to hear him sing and wanting to.
